How T o Prepare T he
Carpet Shampooer/
Extractor For
Upholstery And Stair
Cleaning

N OTE:
Never use this carpet shampooer/ extractor
as a standard vacuum cleaner.
Vacuum uph olstery and stairs with a vacuum clean er's
attachment tool. Use a crevice tool for hard to reach
areas such as tufts and corners.
IM PORTANT:
Cleaning some upholstery fabrics
with a wet cleaning solution may
damage the fabric. Know what the
fabric content is and how to clean
it before using a cleaning solution
on upholstery fabrics.
Most m an u factu rers care cod e th eir fabrics with
clean ing methods. Some very delicate and un usual
fabrics are DRY CLEAN ONLY . If in doubt of the fabric
type, call a dealer or take a cushion or arm cover to a
dealer for advice.

• S for solvent-dry clean on ly. Do not wet clean.

Look inside the cush ions or on the un derneath side.
If fillin g is a dark color, it may bleed th rough and
discolor the fabric. Most stuffing material that is white
to ligh t yellow is color fast and will n ot bleed colors
through to the fabric coverin g.
Test clean a hidden area
Be sure to test clean a h idden area several h ours
befor e star tin g to clean . Let th e test ar ea d r y
completely. In spect for ch an ges in color, bleeding,
stretching, or shrinking. Test another area if in doubt.
Pret est f or Color Fast ness
Before clean in g th e u p h olster y, we recom m en d
testing it for color fastness. Moisten a white towel with
the cleaning solution. Test a small area of the cushion
back. Gen tly rub th e cloth over th e area. Ch eck each
area for color bleedin g. If th e towel does n ot pick up
any color, it should be safe to use the cleaning solution
on the en tire area.
