    PLAYBACK The easiest, most basic operation possible with your video recorder is tape playback. Already-recorded signals on a video Ba sic tape are read by your video recorder and displayed on your TV just like a TV programme. S-VHS playback is possible only with S-VHS PAL tapes recorded Pla yba ck in the SP or LP mode, or S-VHS NTSC tapes recorded in the SP or EP mode.

    RECO RD IN G (cont.) The B.E.S.T. (Biconditional Equalised Signal Tracking) system checks the condition of the tape in use during recording and B.E.S.T. Picture playback, and compensates to provide the highest-possible recording and playback pictures. The default setting for both recording and playback is "ON".
