6.7.2 Lubricating the Carriage Guide Shaft

This section includes instructions for lubricating the carriage guide shaft
and adding the correct amount of oil to the oil pad, located underneath
the carriage. See Figure 6-8 below. The oil pad keeps the carriage
guide shaft properly lubricated during printer operation.

Never apply oil directly to the carriage guide shaft.
C A U T I O N
Otherwise, you may damage the printhead.

Apply only the specified amount of oil to the oil pad. If
you apply too much oil, throw away the pad and start
over with a new one.
