Troubleshooting

This section provides troubleshooting information for the HCS7720. You can find additional
troubleshooting help at www.dishnetwork.com.
Equipment Setup Review
• Make sure all connectors and connections are tight and secure on all entertainment system
components.
• Check the X-Port connection; is it viable and working?
- Observe the green and amber LEDs on the X-PORT LINK connector.
- The green LED should blink rapidly.
- The amber LED should stay lit constantly.
• Ensure the ViP 222k smart card is up-to-date and authorized by DISH Network.
STATUS LED
The green STATUS LED on the HCS7720 front panel provides general information about the
operating condition of the transcoder. Observe the STATUS LED, and refer to the following
table:
STATUS LED Behavior
Slow Blinking
Rapid Blinking
Continuously On
Continuously Off
Audio/Video Freeze or Blank Screen
Perform one or more of the following (in order):
• Press the RESET button located on the front of the ViP 222k, and allow the STB to retrieve
the DISH Network program guide.
• Unplug the power cord of the ViP 222k for 15 seconds; then plug it in again.
• Use a small object (for example, a paperclip) to press the recessed RESET button on the
HCS7720. Hold for five seconds to initiate the reset.
• Unplug the power cord of the CodePlus card frame for 15 seconds; then plug it in again.
