Select an instrum ent appropriate for the isotope(s) to be surveyed
for.
2.
C heck instrum ent for a valid calibration sticker and for dam age that
would prevent it (them ) from operating acceptably.
3.
C heck the battery condition.
4.
P erform an operational (or perform ance) check.
5.
D eterm ine the isotope(s) correction factor to be applied to the
instrum ent.
6.
C alculate the instrum ent's M D A and com pare to survey criteria.
7.
If the instrum ent does not m eet all of the above criteria, then
replace the instrum ent (or change/charge the batteries) or change
your survey technique so that the instrum ent's M D A w ill m eet the
survey criteria.
9.
P erform and then docum ent the survey.
