Maintenance and Testing

The meter needs little or no maintenance with normal use. It automatically
tests its own systems every time you turn it on and lets you know if
something is wrong. See Chapter 5, "Screen Messages and
Troubleshooting."
If you drop the meter or think it is not giving accurate results, make sure that
your test strips and control solution haven't expired, then run a control test.
Test your display before each blood sugar test to make sure it is working
properly. To test the display, turn off the meter, then press and hold
to
see the complete display. All the segments should be clear and look exactly
like the picture to the right. If one of the segments is missing or looks different from the picture, do
not use the meter. Call the ACCU-CHEK Customer Care Service Center at 1-800-858-8072.

Cleaning the Lancing Device

Clean the outside of the ACCU-CHEK Multiclix lancing device regularly with 70 % isopropyl (rubbing)
alcohol. DO NOT place the entire device under water. DO NOT use bleach. At least once a week,
disinfect the cap after cleaning by placing it in 70 % rubbing alcohol for 10 minutes. Allow the cap to
air-dry after disinfecting.
