    4.3.2 Obtaining blood All the fingertips and both the earlobes are suitable for obtaining blood. We recommend obtaining capillary blood from the side of the fingertip, as this causes the least amount of pain. You can choose the penetration depth from a possible 11 settings rang- ing from 0.5 to 5.5.
  • Page 42 Notes Use a new lancet each time you obtain blood. This not only reduces the risk of infection but also helps ensure virtually pain- free blood sampling. Do not prime the lancing device until you are ready to collect blood. Keeping the lancing device in this primed state can cause parts to become misshapen through tension, impairing its opera- tion.
