Each unit is shipped with HP Backup and Recovery Manager. HP Backup and Recovery Manager can provide
data and system file protection for HP business PCs to enable fast recovery if the system becomes
corrupted or if important information is accidentally deleted. HP Backup and Recovery Manager can
perform scheduled or manual backups of the entire drive or individual files and folders. HP Backup and
Recovery Manager can also create software recovery CDs or DVDs (requires optional hardware).
HP Client Management Interface is based on industry standards that include Microsoft Windows
Management Interface (MS WMI), Web Based Enterprise Management (WBEM), System Management BIOS
(SMBIOS), and Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI). HP CMI is a foundation technology
utilized in HP Client Management Solutions.
System Management BIOS, previously known as DMI BIOS, is used to store system management
information.
HP ProtectTools Security Manager is the security platform for business notebooks and desktops. The HP
ProtectTools Security Manager is an extensible client security console that delivers enhanced security
capabilities through add-on software modules. Modules currently available or planned are:
- Smart Card Security for HP ProtectTools
- BIOS Configuration for HP ProtectTools
- Embedded Security for HP ProtectTools
- Credential Manager for HP ProtectTools
- Device Access Manager for HP ProtectTools
