CLI Commands Used in This Section
Command Syntax
interface <interface>
[no] ip address dhcp <ip> [<mask>]
<ip>/<bits> <dhcp>
ip default-gateway
dns primary <server_1>
dns secondary <server_2>
show interfaces<interface>
The following example shows how to enable the DHCP client and automati-
cally set the ip address for the DHCP client using the interface and ip address
commands.
Enter ethernet commands, one per line.
ProCurve Access Point 530# configure
ProCurve Access Point 530(config)# interface ethernet
ProCurve Access Point 530(ethernet)# ip address dhcp
ProCurve Access Point 530(ethernet)#
To ensure the access point doesn't overwrite the static IP address, you must
first disable the DHCP client with the 'no ip address dhcp' command.
The following example shows how to disable the DHCP client and then specify
an IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, and DNS server addresses.
In order to disable the DHCP and assign a Static IP address, you must have a
serial port connection to the access point. Otherwise, you will lose connec-
tivity during the process of assigning a new static IP address.
