Controls

Controls Overview

  1. INPUT jacks accept audio signals through balanced cables with male XLR plugs.
  2. THRU XLR jacks send out full-range copies of each input signal.
  3. OUTPUT XLR jacks send out filtered copies of each input signal. Each signal is processed through a 100 Hz high-pass filter for use with mid- and high-frequency satellite speakers.
  4. BOOST FREQUENCY knob targets a boost frequency between 40 Hz and 90 Hz.
  5. LEVEL KNOB controls the input gain.
  6. PHASE NORM/REV switch reverses the output phase to compensate for frequency cancellation between the subwoofer and satellite speakers.
  7. LIMIT LED lights when the amplifier overloads.
  8. SIGNAL LED lights when a signal enters the amp at the INPUT XLR jacks.
  9. POWER LED lights when the speaker is powered up.
  10. HIGH CUT controls the upper corner frequency for the subwoofer's amplifier. This control does not affect the THRU A/B or OUTPUT A/B signals.
  11. BOOST switch adds +10 dB of boost to a specific frequency controlled by the BOOST FREQUENCY knob.
  12. POWER button turns the speaker on and off.
  13. POWER SOURCE jack accepts the included IEC power cable.

Getting started

  1. Place the speaker(s) in desired locations.
  2. Make all necessary connections.
DO NOT turn on the power yet.
  3. Set the controls as shown: LEVEL knob full counter-clockwise, HIGH CUT knob full clockwise, BOOST FREQUENCY knob centered, BOOST switch set to the OFF position, and PHASE set to the NORM position.
  4. Turn on your audio source.
  5. Turn on your speaker(s) by pressing the POWER SWITCH. The POWER LED will light up.
  6. While playing your audio source, adjust the LEVEL knob to the desired volume level. If the LIMIT LED flashes continuously, turn the LEVEL knob back down until the LIMIT LED only lights occasionally.
  7. Slowly rotate the HIGH CUT knob counter-clockwise until you find the best sound balance between the subwoofer and the satellite speakers.
  8. To further shape the sound, move the BOOST switch to the ON position. Rotate the BOOST FREQUENCY knob until you find a suitable frequency.
  9. To compensate for possible phase cancellation between the subwoofer and other speakers in your system, move the PHASE switch from the NORM position to the REV position. Keep the setting which delivers the best-sounding result.
