Heat sink descriptions and part numbers
Description
Heat sink
Before removing the heat sink, follow these steps:
NOTE:
You do not have to remove the system board to remove the heat sink. You can remove the
system board with the heat sink attached.

Prepare the computer for disassembly (see

Disconnect the battery cable from the system board (see
Remove the heat sink:
1.
In the order indicated on the heat sink, loosen the four captive Phillips screws (1) that secure the
heat sink to the system board.
2.
Remove the heat sink (2).
3.
Thoroughly clean the thermal paste from the surfaces of the heat sink and the system board
components each time the heat sink is removed. Replacement thermal material is included with the
heat sink and system board spare part kits.
Thermal grease (1) and a white thermal grease (gap filler) (2) are used on the heat sink.
