    Drive handling IMPORTANT: Drives are fragile components that must be handled with care. To prevent damage to the computer, damage to a drive, or loss of information, observe these precautions: Before removing or inserting a hard drive, shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.

Rotate the right side of the system board upward (1). Pull the system board away from the connectors on the side of the chassis to remove it from the computer (2).

    Display assembly Before disassembling the display assembly, follow these steps: Prepare the computer for disassembly (Preparation for disassembly on page 31). Place the computer in Battery Safe mode (Battery Safe mode on page 31). Remove the bottom cover (Bottom cover on page 32).
  • Page 65 Open the display to an approximate 90° angle (2), and then separate the display from the computer (3). Flex the top (1) of the bezel, the inside edges of the left and right sides (2), and the bottom (3) of the bezel until it disengages from the display enclosure.
  • Page 66 Remove the display bezel (4). The bezel is available as spare part number L78090-001 for models without a camera, L78091-001 for models with an HD camera, and L78092-001 for models with a HD + IR camera. The display panel is secured to the display enclosure with tape that is installed under the left and right sides of the panel.

  • Page 68 Remove the panel (4). Use the following steps to install a display panel: Remove the backing from the bottom of the new tape to install in the display enclosure (1). Locate the tape alignment marks, and then install the tape onto the left and right sides on the inside of the enclosure (2).
  • Page 69 Rotate the panel into place in the display enclosure. If it is necessary to remove or replace the HD camera, disconnect the cable from the camera (1), and then peel the silver tape up to remove the module from the enclosure (2). The HD camera is available as spare part number L81889-001.
  • Page 70 If it is necessary to remove or replace the IR camera, disconnect the cable from the right (1) and left (2) sides of the camera, and then peel the camera module up to remove it from the adhesive that secures it to the enclosure (3) .
  • Page 71 Remove the hinges from the enclosure (3). The display hinges are available as spare part number L78093-001 for nonprivacy models and L91017-001 for privacy models. If it is necessary to replace the WLAN antennas, remove the cables from the clips in the bottom of the enclosure (1), and then peel the antennas and remove them from the display enclosure (2).
  • Page 72 Pull the cable up to disengage it from the adhesive that secures it to the inside of the enclosure (2), and then remove the cable from the enclosure (3). The display cable is available as spare part number L78088-001. Reverse this procedure to reassemble the display assembly.     If the BIOS becomes corrupted or is attacked, HP Sure Start automatically restores the BIOS to its previously safe state, without user intervention.
