Fuselage and Empennage Group
3 Fuselage Frame Tubing, Longerons, and
Stringers:
- Visual inspection for damage and corrosion.
- When opening a bay or access cover for other
work, inspect all fuselage tubes for damage
or corrosion.
4 Rudder, Elevator and Stabilizer Trim Cables,
Turnbuckles, Guides, and Pulleys:
- Inspect for tension, safety, wear, damage,
corrosion, and operation.
5 Stabilizer Yoke and Screw:
- Visual inspection for end play, security, and
excessive wear.
6 Rudder and Elevator Structures:
- Visual inspection for damage.
7 Horizontal Stabilizer:
- Gently tap the structure to ensure there are no
loose objects inside.
- Gently flex the outboard, forward joint where
the leading edge tube and the outboard rib
meet, to inspect for cracks or breaks.
8 Rudder Hinge Pins and Bushings:
- Visual inspection for excess wear, and
corrosion.
9 Elevator Hinge Pins and Bushings:
- Visual inspection for excess wear, and
corrosion.
10 Stabilizer Brace Wires:
- Visual inspection for corrosion, tightness, and
safety. If any single wire is found to be
damaged, they must all be replaced.
11 Lubricate per Chapter 6.2
Wing Group
1 Fabric and Finish:
- Visual inspection for cracks and deterioration.
2 Aileron, Flap, and Wing Structure:
- Visual inspection for damage.
3 Fuel Tanks, Caps, and Lines:
- Visual inspection for damage, leaks and
deterioration.
4 Wing Attachment Bolts:
- Visual inspection for security.
