Extending Battery Pack Operating Time

The operating time of battery packs can vary depending on the
options and applications used and the conservation settings
selected. To get the maximum operating time from battery packs,
follow these guidelines:
Select the High battery conservation level (see Chapter 4,
"Using Power and Power Management")
Initiate Suspend or Hibernation or turn off the computer when
you will not be using it for several hours.
Reduce the brightness of the display and select a shorter
screen save timeout.
Exit modem programs when not in use.
Remove PC Cards when not in use.
Disconnect external equipment not in use that does not have
its own power source.
Use an external power source when available.
If the computer will be disconnected from external power for
more than two weeks, remove the battery pack to reduce the
discharge.
