Low Battery Warning Beeps: You can turn off or on the low-
battery warning beeps. However, if you turn them off, the only
indication of a low-battery condition may be the blinking battery
light.
CD-ROM Auto Insert Notification: In Windows NT, the Battery
Conservation Settings tab includes an option to disable or enable
CD-ROM Auto Insert Notification. If you have a CD-ROM drive
and are operating on battery power, you may want to disable Auto
Insert Notification.
In Windows 95, you can disable or enable CD-ROM Auto
NOTE:
Insert Notification from the Device Manager tab in System
Properties. Click StartÆSettingsÆControl PanelÆSystemÆ
Device ManagerÆCD-ROMÆ[drive]ÆSettings tab.
When Auto Insert Notification is enabled, the system constantly
polls the CD-ROM drive so that it can automatically start a
CD-ROM when inserted. This constant polling prevents the
system from initiating Suspend after a specified timeout. (You
can, however, initiate Suspend by pressing the suspend button.)
If you want the system to automatically initiate Suspend while a
CD-ROM drive is in the system, disable the CD-ROM Auto Insert
Notification. You can then either enable it before inserting a
CD-ROM, or start the CD-ROM by using the StartÆRun
command.
