gine tank becomes low.
The time to fill the on-engine oil tank can vary
depending on oil temperature. Refer to the

Filling the Remote Oil Tank System
IMPORTANT: The remote oil tank system
must be primed after installation, or if run
empty.
Remove the filler cap and fill the tank with rec-
ommended outboard lubricant. Replace the
filler cap and tighten securely.
Start the outboard to begin priming. The LOW
OIL warning should be indicated on the Sys-
temCheck gauge and the horn should sound.
The remote oil tank will begin to pump oil to
the outboard-mounted oil tank. Run the out-
board for 5 minutes.
Turn the outboard OFF. Restart the outboard.
The LOW OIL warning should turn OFF. If the
LOW OIL warning does not shut off, run at idle
speed for an additional five minutes. Under
most conditions the remote oil tank will fill in
two to three start/run cycles.

Priming the Oil System

NOTICE
The oiling system MUST be primed to
avoid engine damage from a lack of
lubrication.
Prime the oiling system to remove air from the
system before operating the outboard if:
• The outboard is new – Dealer must prime
the oiling system using Evinrude Diagnostic
software;
• The oil tank is emptied or outboard is run out
of oil;
• The outboard is laid down for transportation
or storage.
• Perform winterization to prime the oil sys-
tem. See Long-Term Storage (Winteriza-
tion) on page 63.
