    1. Getting Started Printer Driver for This Printer Printing requires installation of a printer driver for your operating system. The PCL 6 driver is included on the CD-ROM that comes with this printer. PCL printer drivers This printer driver allows the computer to communicate with the printer via a printer language. Pull out the tape inside the unit horizontally while holding the cartridge with one hand as shown in the illustration. Make sure that the interface cable you use is appropriate for your computer. • The printer’s parallel connection is a standard bi-directional interface. It requires a standard 36-pin parallel cable compliant with IEEE 1284 and an available parallel port on your computer.

    3. Installing the Printer Driver This manual assumes that you are familiar with general Windows procedures and practices. If you are not, see the documentation that comes with Windows for details. Installing the PCL 6 Printer Driver This describes how to install the PCL printer driver when using a parallel port. To use a printer connected using a parallel interface, click [LPT1] when installing the printer driver.
