You must remove, replace, or loosen as many as 45 screws when you service the parts described in this chapter.
  • Page 25 Before removing the bottom cover, prepare the computer for disassembly (Preparation for disassembly on page 18). Remove the bottom cover: Peel the two rubber feet off the bottom of the computer (1). Remove the seven Phillips M2.5 × 5.0 screws (2) that secure the bottom cover to the computer. Starting between the hinges, release the edges of the bottom cover from the computer (1).

    WARNING! To reduce potential safety issues, use only the user-replaceable battery provided with the computer, a replacement battery provided by HP, or a compatible battery purchased from HP. Remove the three Phillips M2.0 × 2.0 screws (3) that secure the touchpad to the computer. Remove the touchpad (4) from the computer.

Disconnect the battery cable from the system board (Battery on page 20). Remove the USB board: Disconnect the cables from the ZIF connector on the USB board (1).

Thoroughly clean the thermal material from the surfaces of the heat sink and the system board components each time the heat sink is removed.     Display assembly To remove and disassemble the display assembly, use these procedures and illustrations. NOTE: Full hinge-up displays are not available as spare parts. Spare parts for displays are available only at the subcomponent level. Before removing the display panel, follow these steps: Prepare the computer for disassembly (Preparation for disassembly on page 18).
