  • Page 10: Paper Feed And Separation

1.Mechanism Paper Feed and Separation The paper feed unit employs an RF system. In a conventional FRR system, double feed of paper is prevented by reverse rotation of the separating roller. However, paper separation of the RF system is assisted by the resistance of a friction roller [A] with a torque limiter (reverse drive is not performed).
  • Page 11: Paper Lift Mechanism

1.Mechanism Paper Lift Mechanism When the paper feed tray is set in the machine, the tray set switch (SW2) at the rear of the tray switches ON, and it is detected that the tray is set. The coupling [B] between the shaft [A] at the rear of the tray and the tray lift motor (M2) [C] then engages, the motor rotates, and the tray bottom plate [D] is lifted.
  • Page 12 1.Mechanism standby mode. When the tray is removed, the coupling is released, and the tray bottom plate moves down. The lift motor then rotates until the coupling returns to the home position.
  • Page 13: Paper End Detection

1.Mechanism Paper End Detection If there is some paper in the paper tray, the paper stack raises the paper end feeler [A] and the paper end sensor (S2) [B] is deactivated. When the paper tray runs out of paper, the paper end feeler drops into the cutout [C] in the tray bottom plate and the paper end sensor (S2) is activated.
  • Page 14: Paper Size Detection

1.Mechanism Paper Size Detection The end fence is interlocked with a size detection actuator in an automatic detection system which recognizes patterns using a 4-position push switch. Size is detected by the detection patterns of switches 1, 2, 3, and 4. Tray set is detected by another switch.
  • Page 15 1.Mechanism Size Knob • "0" is switch ON (pushed), "1" is switch OFF. • The sizes indicated with *1 are automatic paper size which can be switched over in SP mode (SP5-180-001 to 003). • If a pattern other than the above is detected, a blank is displayed on the operation panel.
  • Page 16: Side Fences

1.Mechanism Side Fences If the tray is full of paper and it is pushed in strongly, the fences may deform or bend. This may cause the paper to skew or the side-to-side registration to be incorrect. To correct this, each side fence has a stopper [A] attached to it.
