    Initial Settings Initial Settings Connection through the CE Maintenance Port • As a client computer, Windows XP and later/Internet Explorer 8 and 9 are supported. Connect one end of the LAN cable to the CE maintenance port [A] and the other end to a notebook computer (peer-to-peer connection).

    Initial Settings Set the time and click “Apply”. You can either enter the time in “Date/Time” or configure the machine to synchronize with the time server in “Internet time”. The setting of the last clicked “Apply” button takes effect. In “General Settings”, enter the host name, workgroup name and DNS suffix according to the customer's network environment, and then click “Apply”.
  • Page 38 If you have changed items such as the host name in “General Settings” under “System Settings”, the RICOH e-Sharing Box restarts and the Web UI times out. Log in again to the Web UI. If you have not changed the “General Settings”, start from Step 3.

If the current version is older than the one you downloaded from the download site, upload all versions newer than the current one in chronological order. Click “Apply Update Program” to start the update process. When update is completed, the machine restarts.

    • If you intend to download the updater files from the firmware download site via the internet, first connect your computer to the internet (through the customer's network environment for example). • If the RICOH e-Sharing Box is connected to the internet, it checks once a day if a new update program is available.

If you put a check mark, the RICOH e-Sharing Box asks for the passcode when the customer launches DocsConnect on a smart Passcode lock device. The RICOH e-Sharing Box asks the customer to register the passcode when the customer accesses the RICOH e-Sharing Box from the smart device for the first time.

    • When a process in a workflow is successfully completed: A notification mail is sent to the destination specified by the user. • When an error occurs, e.g. because the RICOH e-Sharing Box is malfunctioning (see page 141 "Troubleshooting"): A notification mail is sent to the administrator.

If an email address other than one provided by the ISP, such as one provided by the carrier of the smart device, email notification may not be sent, as described above.

    Using DocsConnect, you can view, print, project or transmit data saved in specified folders on commercially available network attached storage (NAS) devices. The data will be accessible from the RICOH e-Sharing Box without being copied onto the HDD of the RICOH e-Sharing Box.

Click [File] [Save as...] to open the dialog box for saving Web pages. Confirm the saving location and the file name.

    Checking Connection from a Client Computer • As a client computer, Windows XP and later/Internet Explorer 8 and 9 are supported. Under “Network”, double-click the icon of the RICOH e-Sharing Box and confirm that the Web UI starts. It may take up to 30 minutes until it starts.

    Start DocsConnect and check if files and folders can be viewed. • The number of smart devices that can be registered to the RICOH e-Sharing Box is 50. If 50 devices are already registered, no more devices can be newly registered.
