Introduction
Use this document for quick installation and setup.
Teledyne LeCroy's Summit Gen4 Test Platform for the Summit Z416 PCI Express Protocol Exerciser provides a
convenient, powerful and flexible test platform for PCI Express devices at data rates up to 16.0 GT/s and up to x16 lanes.
The platform allows creation of many different link widths (depending on the application), utilizing up to the maximum of 16
lanes. The Summit Gen4 Test Platform allows the Summit Z416 Exerciser to act as a host system, enabling extensive
protocol-level testing of PCIe
packets.
In addition to connecting to the Summit Z416 Exerciser, there is a complete Gen4 interposer (including cables for up to x16
link) embedded in the Gen4 Test Platform for connection to a Summit T4 Gen4 capable analyzer.
For use as a host emulator, the Summit Z416 Exerciser Plug-in card is installed into the Z416 PCIe slot. The Summit Z416
Controller board can be secured on to the Platform itself by means of a bracket. The DUT is plugged into the second PCIe
x16 slot, and connected to either the 6-pin or the 8-pin 12V power sources provided on the Gen4 Test Platform.
Switches on the platform allow the user to select internal or external reference clocks and signals (SSC, SRIS, CLKREQ#)
separately for the Summit Z416 and DUT. There is also a separate power switch for the DUT. Connectors on the platform
include dual Ref Clock IN and OUT, dual High Speed serial connectors for connection to a Teledyne LeCroy protocol
analyzer such as the Summit T416, and DC power connectors (2-pin for the Summit Z416, and the choice of 6-pin or 8-pin
for the DUT).
In addition to using the Gen4 Test Platform with the Teledyne LeCroy Summit Z416, you can connect your own device to
the Summit Z416 slot and use the Test Platform as a PCIe backplane. In this configuration the platform will act as an
interposer to capture protocol traffic between your two devices.
