Installation Check the machine level (within 5 mm (0.2”)). Open the front cover and push the slide unit to the left. Open the exit assembly and fill the oil bottle with silicone oil. Remove the fusing unit cover (2 screws) and the pressure plate (2 non-tapping screws).

Remove the charge corona unit together with the wire cleaner (1 screw). Turn the drum shaft knob CLOCKWISE and take off the drum stay. Take out the development unit and place it on a sheet of paper. Take out the cleaning unit, the erase lamp unit, and the drum flange.

Dust the drum, the cleaning blade, the clean- ing brush, and the cleaning side seals with set- ting powder. Pour one bottle of developer (1 kg RICOH TYPE 4000) into the development unit. Turn the paddle roller knob counterclockwise to smooth the developer while pouring it in.

6D-3. Paper Lift Detector Adjustment Load about 20mm (0.8”) of paper into the cassette and set it to the copier. Turn on the main switch. Check the clearance between the pick-up roller and the paper. * If it is 2 ± 1 mm (0.08” ± 0.04”), the following steps are unnecessary.

6F-5. Hot Roller Replacement CAUTION: When replacing the hot roller, be care- ful not to damage the thermistor. Remove the fusing unit (See 6F-1). Remove the oil blade (See 6F-4). Take off the fusing unit knob and knob gear. Pull and rotate the front lamp terminal, and take out the fusing lamp.

Remove the gears, bearings, and bushings from both ends (1 C-ring each). Slide the hot roller slightly to the rear and take it out through the exit assembly opening. Tear the protective paper from the ends of a new hot roller and install it carefully. After the hot roller is set, tear off the protec- tive paper.
