function properly.
Pay special attention to the following, especially if
the boat is repowered with new outboard(s):
Engine mounting height
•
Jack plate adjustment
•
Correct propeller selection and WOT RPM
•
Fuel system vacuum
•
Engine water pressure/optional water screens
•
Make all needed adjustments or repairs and retest
before delivery.
When r eady for
delivery, g ive all instruction
sheets, ope rating instructions and user guide s

Start with the eng ine lower on the tran som. Make
a test run, taking note of engine RPM, water pres-
sure, trim le vel and b oat speed. Re fer to t he
Water Pressure Chart on p. 89.
Raise the engine or jack plate and repeat the pro-
cess until the best acce leration and bo at spe ed
are achieved.
Fuel System Vacuum
Test fuel system vacuum. Refer to the appropriate
service manual. The maximum inlet fue l va cuum
should not exceed 4 in. Hg. (13.5 kPa) at the inlet
to the fuel lif t pu mp under any o perating cond i-
tions (IDLE to WOT).
A higher vacuum indicate s an excessive restric-
tion in the fuel supply. Repair as needed.
Engine Water Pressure
Check engine water pressur e. Co nfirm adequate
water pressure at all engine speeds and in turns.
Refer to the Water Pressure Chart on p. 89.
If water p ressure falls be low accept able levels,
adjust outboard alignment (multiple engine instal-
lations), o r co nsider in stalling optional high f low
water screens. Refer to appropriate parts catalog
for available water screens.
