THERMOSTAT

Removal

Disconnect the water hose from the thermostat
cover.
Remove four (4) bolts and the thermostat cover.
Remove the gasket and the thermostat.

Inspection

Check the thermostat for salt deposits, corrosion,
wear, or other damage.
To check the thermostat opening temperature,
insert a length of thread between the thermostat
valve and the body and suspend the thermostat in
a container filled with water.
Place the thermometer in the container and heat
the water. Observe the water temperature when
the valve opens and releases the thread.

Installation

Install the gasket and the thermostat.
Install the thermostat cover. Install and tighten the
bolts and to a torque of 89 in. lbs. (10 N·m).
Connect the water hose to the thermostat cover.
