Apply engine oil to the cylinder head bolts and
place them in the bolt holes. Then tighten the bolts
in the following manner:
STEP 1 – Tighten the bolts to the initial torque
according to the tightening sequence. Then
completely loosen the bolts in reverse order.
STEP 2 – Tighten the bolts again to the initial
torque according to the tightening sequence.
STEP 3 – Finally, tighten the bolts to the final
torque according to the tightening sequence.

Bolt Tightening Sequence
Install the timing chain. Refer to "TIMING CHAIN
AND TENSIONER" on page 131.
Check the valve clearance of each valve. Refer to
the MAINTENANCE section.

Disassembly

Remove the cylinder head.
Remove four (4) bolts and the upper cylinder head
cover.

2. Upper cylinder head cover
Remove eight (8) bolts and the rocker arm shaft
brackets.
Remove the intake rocker arm shaft and the
exhaust rocker arm shaft. Remove all rocker arms
and springs.
IMPORTANT:
Mark the location of each rocker
arm within the cylinder head. Each rocker arm and
its components must be installed in their original
locations during assembly.
