Stapling copy jobs Load an original document faceup in the ADF or facedown on the scanner glass. On the home screen, touch Copy. The copy screen appears. Change the copy settings as needed. Touch Copy from, and then touch the size of the original document. Touch Copy to, and then touch the icon that shows the tray you want.

The finishing job is sent. Folding copy jobs Load the paper in the short-edge orientation in a 500-sheet tray or the multipurpose feeder. Note: Letter- or A4-size paper must be loaded in a 500-sheet tray in the short-edge orientation. Set the default paper source to a 500-sheet tray that has paper loaded in the short-edge orientation. Creating booklets The finisher can create stapled booklets of up to 15 sheets including the cover page. Booklet jobs greater than 15 total sheets will be folded without stapling and nested in the booklet maker output bin. Notes: • Files printed directly from a flash drive inserted into the USB port on the front of the printer will receive only the finishing options that are enabled from the Finishing menu.

Squeeze the width and length guide tabs together as shown, and then move guides to the correct position for the paper size being loaded. Flex the sheets back and forth to loosen them, and then fan them. Do not fold or crease the paper. Straighten the edges on a level surface.
Setting the Paper Size and Paper Type The Paper Size setting is determined by the position of the paper guides in the tray for all trays except the multipurpose feeder. The Paper Size setting for the multipurpose feeder must be set manually. The factory default Paper Type setting is Plain Paper.

Specify fold and staple settings: • Touch Staple and fold to fold the sheets in half with two staples in the fold. Loading letterhead for jobs that require finishing Load the letterhead in the short-edge orientation in a 500-sheet tray if the job requires stapling, top-edge hole punching, or fold finishing. Load the letterhead in the long-edge orientation in a 500-sheet tray or the multipurpose feeder if the job requires hole-punch finishing on the long edge of the paper.
Maintaining the finisher Periodically, certain tasks are required to maintain optimum finishing quality. Replacing the general finishing staples Open the finisher front door. Grasp the staple cartridge carrier tab, and then pull it forward.

Remove the staple cartridge from the cartridge carrier. Remove the cartridge from the cartridge casing: Pull the tab away from the staple cartridge and hold it in position. Press up from the bottom of the cartridge while pulling the staple cartridge up. Discard the empty cartridge.

The cartridge clicks into position. Insert the staple cartridge into the cartridge carrier. The cartridge clicks into position. Close the finisher door.
Replacing the advanced booklet staples There are two saddle stitch staple cartridges that use the advanced booklet staples. Use this process to replace either cartridge. Open the finisher front door. Squeeze the tabs together, and then pull the staple tray toward you to open it.

Grasp the staple cartridge by the side grips and pull upward to remove it from the carrier. Discard the empty cartridge. Insert a new cartridge. Close the staple tray. Close the finisher door.
Understanding the finisher menus and messages This chapter describes the finishing menus and messages for your printer. • The Finishing menu may be accessed from the printer display by touching Settings Print Settings Finishing Menu. • The Bin Setup and Custom Bin Names menus may be accessed by touching Paper Menu.

Open Door G. Lift the Cover G1 lever(s), and then remove any jammed paper. Move Cover G2 to the right, and then remove any jammed paper. Note: If the paper is jammed in the rollers, rotate Knob G3 counterclockwise. Move Cover G4 down, and then remove any jammed paper. Move Cover G7 to the left, and then remove any jammed paper.
Lift the inside cover. If the paper is jammed in the rollers, rotate Knob G8 clockwise, and then remove the jammed paper. Close Door G. Touch Continue. 284–286 paper jams Open Door H. Remove the jammed paper.
