Symptom
The following messages regularly
appear in the array logs:
237 INFORMATIONAL Firmware
update progress: The firmware
was verified.
(from MC: yes, for MC: no) (p1: 1,
p2: 1, p3: 0, p4: 0)
237 INFORMATIONAL Firmware
update progress: The SC loader
was updated.
Saved in primary location in flash.
The firmware is the same so it was
not flashed.
(p1: 2, p2: 1, p3: 0, p4: 0)
237 INFORMATIONAL Firmware
update progress: The SC app was
updated.
Saved in primary location in flash.
The firmware is different so it was
flashed; flashed successfully.
(p1: 4, p2: 1, p3: 1, p4: 0)
237 INFORMATIONAL Firmware
update progress: The
memory-controller FPGA was
updated. Saved in primary location
in flash. The firmware is the same
so it was not flashed.

Troubleshooting HPE MSA 1040/2040 Storage
Cause
Firmware Flash is blocked, upgrade
retries are evident.
Action Required
For systems that are in a firmware
upgrade loop:
1. Backup and verify all data on the
system.
2. Run the Online ROM Flash
Component again to upgrade both
the controllers.
3. Use the FTP option to upgrade both
controllers:
ftp> put firmware_file
flash
4. Allow firmware upgrade to complete
fully.
5. Use either SMU or the CLI, check,
and confirm all firmware versions
for the Management Controller and
Storage Controller matches
between both controllers
