Before you call for service...

Troubleshooting Tips

Save time and money! Review the charts on the following
pages first and you may not need to call for service.
Problem
Top burners do not light
or do not burn evenly.
(The front right burner is
designed to have slightly
smaller flames between
the 6 and 9 o'clock
positions. This is normal.)
Burner flames very
large or yellow
Surface burners light
but oven does not
Control signals after
entering cooking time
or start time
Food does not bake or
roast properly in the
upper oven
Burners do not light
Possible Causes
Plug on range is not completely
inserted in the electrical outlet.
Burner slits on the side of the
burner may be clogged.
Improper burner assembly.
Improper air to gas ratio.
The oven gas shut-off valve
may have accidentally been
moved during cleaning or
moving.
You forgot to enter a bake
temperature or cleaning time.
Oven controls improperly set.
Rack position is incorrect.
Incorrect cookware or cookware
of improper size being used.
Oven thermostat needs
adjustment.
Clock not set correctly.
Aluminum foil used improperly
in the oven.
Oven bottom not securely
seated in position.
Gas/Control Lockout feature
is activated.
Plug on range is not
completely inserted in the
electrical outlet.
Gas supply not connected
or turned on.
A fuse in your home may be
blown or circuit breaker tripped.
Burner parts not replaced
correctly.
What To Do
• Make sure electrical plug is plugged into a live, properly
grounded outlet.
• Remove the burners and clean them. Check the
electrode area for burned-on food or grease. See
the Care and cleaning of the range section.
• Make sure the burner parts are installed correctly.
See the Care and cleaning of the range section.
• If range is connected to LP gas, contact the person
who installed your range or made the conversion.
• To check the oven gas shut-off valve, remove the
drawer (see the Care and cleaning of the range section).
Remove the rear access panel by unscrewing the
thumb screws in the upper left and right corners.
Look for the gas shut-off lever at the back of the range.
Lever is
shown closed.
PULL TO OPEN.
• Touch the BAKE pad and desired temperature or
the SELF CLEAN pad and desired clean time.

• See the Care and cleaning of the range section.
• See the Installation of the range section.
• Allow the range to cool down and touch and hold the
GAS/CONTROL LOCKOUT pad (on some models) for
3 seconds until LOC disappears from the display.
• Make sure electrical plug is plugged into a live, properly
grounded outlet.
• See the Installation Instructions that came with your
range.
• Replace the fuse or reset the circuit breaker.
