ENGINE WILL NOT START, OR IS
HARD TO START
Possible Cause
Improper starting proce-
dure.
Empty fuel tank or fuel
shutoff valve closed.
Faulty fuel pump.
Choke not operating prop-
erly.
Engine flooded.
Faulty ignition system com-
ponent.
Clogged fuel filters.
Stale or contaminated fuel.
Fuel line or tank vent line
kinked or clogged.

Remedy
Read starting procedure.
Fill tank or open valve.
Check sight tube for fuel.
Have
Authorized
Cruiser
Dealer
pump, if fuel is present.
Check that choke is closed
when engine is cold. Check
that it opens when engine
warms up.
Do not attempt to start en-
gine for at least 5 minutes.
Refer to STARTING PRO-
CEDURES.
Service ignition system.
Replace filters.
If contaminated, drain tank.
Fill with fresh fuel.
Replace kinked lines or
blow out lines with com-
pressed air to remove ob-
struction.
