4-10 COOLING SYSTEM
Water Pump

Impeller Removal

Remove:
Water Pump Cover (see Water Pump Cover Removal)
Remove the impeller bolt [A] and take out the impeller [B]
and washer.

Impeller Installation

Install the washer [A] and impeller [B].
Tighten:
Torque - Water Pump Impeller Bolt: 7.0 N·m (0.71 kgf·m, 62
in·lb)
Install the water pump cover (see Water Pump Cover In-
stallation).

Water Pump Inspection

Visually check the impeller [A].
If the surface is corroded, or if the blades [B] are dam-
aged, replace the impeller.
Check the drainage outlet passage [A] at the bottom of
the right engine cover for coolant leaks.
If the oil seal is damaged, the coolant leaks through the
seal and drains through the passage. Replace the oil
seals.

Water Pump Gear Removal

Remove:
Water Pump Cover (see Water Pump Cover Removal)
Impeller (see Impeller Removal)
Right Engine Cover (see Right Engine Cover Removal
in the Clutch chapter)
Pull out the water pump gear [A] together with shaft.
