Parking BrakeAdjustment
Neverattempt to adjustthe brakeswhile the engine isrunning. A lways
disengagePTO (bladeengage)lever,moveshift leverintoneutral position,
stop engine andremovekeyto prevent unintendedstarting.
If the tractordoesnotcometoa complete stopwhenthe brake pedaliscompletely
depressed, or if thetractor'srearwheelscanrollwith the parkingbrake applied,
the brakeisin needofadjustment.Contact t he nearest S ears Service Center t o have
yourbrakes properlyadjusted.
Tolocate the nearest Parts& RepairServiceCenteror to schedule service,
contact 1-800-659-5917.
Cutting Deck Removal
Toremovethe cutting deck, proceedas follows:
I.
Place the PTO (BladeEngage) l everinthe disengaged (OFF) p ositionand
engage the parkingbrake.
2.
Lowerthe deckbymovingthe decklift leverinto the bottomnotchon the
right fender.
3.
Remove t he self-tapping screwCA) t hatsecures the belt-keeper r odfrom
around the tractor'sPTO pulley,thenremove the belt keeperrod(B).See
Figure 15.
Note:Makeamentalnotewhat holethe otherendof the belt-keeper r odis
insertedin forreinstallation purposes.
4.
Remove t he belt (C)from around the tractor'sPTO pulley.SeeFigure 15.
Avoid pinching injuries.Neverplaceyour fingers on the idler springor
between the belt and apulley while removingthe belt.

Looking atthe cuttingdeckfrom the left sideof the tractor,locatethe bow-
tie pin thatsecures t he decksupportrodon the rearleft sideof thedeck.See
Figure 16.Remove t he bow-tiepinthat secures t he decksupportrod,and
carefullyremove the decksupportfrom the decklift arm.
6.
Repeat the abovesteps on thetractor'srightside.
NOTE:The b ow-tieclipsshouldbere-installed from the top down.
7.
Movethe decklift leverinto the top notchonthe right fenderto raisethe
decklift armsupandout ofthe way.
