freeofdeposits.

Remove t he sparkplugbootandusea sparkplugwrenchto remove the
plug.SeeFigure 18.

If the engine hasbeenrunning,the muffler will beveryhot.Becareful not
to touch the muffler.
Measure the plug gapwith afeelergauge. C orrect a snecessary b ybending

Check thatthe sparkplugwasherisingoodcondition andthreadthe spark
plug inby handto prevent c ross-threading.

Afterthe sparkplugis seated, t ightenwith asparkplug wrench to compress
the washer.
NOTE: Wheninstallinga newsparkplug,tighten 1/2turn after the spark
plug seats to compress t he washer. W henreinstalling a usedsparkplug,
tighten 1/8-1/4turn afterthe sparkplug seats to compress t he washer.
IMPORTANT: Thesparkplugmustbesecurely tightened.Animproperly
tightenedsparkplugcanbecome veryhot andmaydamage theengine.
Muffler
Temperature of muffler and nearbyengineareasmayexceed 150° F(65°C).
Avoidcontactwith theseareas.
Inspect m ufflerperiodically, andreplace if necessary. Replacement parts
forthe mufflermustbethe sameandinstalled i n thesamepositionasthe
originalparts.
CleanEngine
Daily or beforeeveryuse, c leangrass, c hafforaccumulated debris from
engine.Keep linkage, s pring,andcontrolsclean.
Keep areaaroundandbehindmufflerfreeofanycombustible debris.
Keeping enginecleanallowsair movement a roundengine.
Engine partsshouldbe keptcleanto reduce the riskof overheating and
ignitionof accumulated d ebris.
Donotusewater to clean engine parts. Watercould contaminatefuel
system.Use a brushor dry cloth.
Carburetor Adjustment
Thecarburetor o n thisengineisnot adjustable.
2.
Visually inspect the sparkplug.Discard the sparkplugif thereisapparent
wear, o r if the insulator iscracked or chipped.Clean the sparkplugwith a
wirebrushif it isto be reused.
