Introduction

The HP ProCurve RF Manager IDS/IPS Controller and sensors enable you to effectively monitor,
troubleshoot, administer, and protect your wireless network. RF Manager consists of the RF
Manager IDS/IPS Controller (J9521A), typically called "RF Manager" or "Server" in this document,
and these RF Security Sensors:
The RF Manager package includes an initial 50-Sensor license registration card. Additional
Security Sensor Licenses (J9399A) are available in 50-license increments. All sensors provide full
security coverage even when there is no connectivity between Sensor and the Server. The Sensor
also raises alerts/events, stores them, and synchronizes them back to the Server on reconnection.

RF Security Sensors

RF Manager supports the following models of RF Security Sensor.

MSM415 Sensor

The MSM415 RF Security Sensor is a single-11n radio security sensor that continuously scans the
2.4 and 5GHz bands to detect and counter-attack security threats for 802.11a/b/g/n wireless
devices and APs.

MSM325 Sensor and MSM320 with Sensor License

The MSM325 and the MSM320 both have two radios, each with two antennas for diversity. One
radio can provide a/b/g coverage, while the radio with the sensor provides continuous real-time
RF security without impacting the performance of the other radio. The other radio can also be
used for local mesh or monitoring. Alternatively, both radios can be set to sensor, scanning the 2.4
and 5 GHz bands simultaneously, speeding up the detection process.

MSM335 Sensor

The MSM335 contains three radios. Radio 1 and 2 can provide simultaneous dual-band (b/g and a)
coverage. Radio 3 is dedicated to RF security. Through its Integrated Sensor, it provides
continuous real-time RF security without impacting the performance of the other two radios. The
third radio can also be used for local mesh or monitoring. Alternatively, two radios can be set to
sensor, scanning the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands simultaneously, speeding up the detection process.
