◆ MPEG (DVDs only)
Selects the type of MPEG audio signal.
MPEG
Select this when the player is
connected to an audio
component with a built-in
MPEG decoder.
PCM
Select this when the player is
connected to an audio
component without a built-in
MPEG decoder. If you play
multi-channel MPEG audio
sound tracks, only the Front (L)
and Front (R) signals will be
output from your two front
speakers.

When "CENTER," "REAR," or "SUBWOOFER"
in "SPEAKER SETUP" is set to other than
"NONE," "MPEG" is automatically selected. If you
select "PCM," first set "CENTER," "REAR," and
"SUBWOOFER" to "NONE" (page 35).
◆ DTS
Selects whether or not to output DTS signals.
OFF
Select this when the player is
connected to an audio
component without a built-in
DTS decoder.
ON
Select this when the player is
connected to an audio
component with a built-in DTS
decoder.

When you play a DVD VIDEO with DTS sound
tracks, set "DTS" to "ON." If you connect the
player to audio equipment without a DTS decoder,
do not set "DTS" to "ON." A loud noise may come
out from the speakers, affecting your ears or causing
the speakers to be damaged.
◆ 48kHz/96kHz PCM (DVD VIDEO only)
Selects the sampling frequency of the audio
signal.
48kHz/16bit The audio signals of DVD
VIDEOs are always converted
to 48 kHz/16 bit.
96kHz/24bit All types of signals including
96 kHz/24 bit are output in their
original format. However, if the
signal is encrypted for
copyright protection purposes,
the signal is only output as
48 kHz/16 bit.

The analogue audio signals from the AUDIO OUT
(5.1CH) jacks are not affected by this setting and
keep their original sampling frequency level.
