HCI lift-up operation
The HCI lifts up the tray to keep the surface of the paper at the pickup position whenever the following
occurs:
The product is turned on
●
The cassette is installed
●
The paper stack surface lowers by pickup operation
●

NOTE:
The figure above illustrates the mechanism for the left cassette, but each HCI cassette has the
same mechanism.
The operational sequence of the lift-up is as follows:
1.
The HCI cassette lifter motor rotates the pulley to reel the wire. Accordingly, the tray moves up.
2.
The HCI cassette lifter motor stops when the HCI cassette media stack surface 2 sensor detects the
paper surface.
3.
The HCI cassette lifter motor rotates again when the HCI cassette media stack surface 1 sensor
detects that the stack surface lowers during a print operation.
When the HCI cassette media stack surface 2 sensor does not detect the paper surface within a
specified period from when the HCI cassette lifter motor starts rotating, the HCI controller determines an
HCI cassette lifter motor failure, and it notifies the formatter through the DC controller.
