Aligning the Print Head

If printed ruled lines are misaligned or print results are otherwise unsatisfactory, adjust the print head
position.
Note
• When the ink has run out during printing the nozzle check pattern, the error message will appear on the
LCD.
A Message Is Displayed
You need to prepare: a sheet of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper (including recycled paper)*
* Be sure to use paper that is white and clean on both sides.
1. Make sure that the power is turned on.
2. Load a sheet of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper in the cassette 1.
After inserting the cassette into the printer, the paper information registration screen is displayed on the
LCD. Select A4 or Letter for Size: and Plain paper for Type:, then press the OK button.
Important
• The cassette 2 is not available for the print head alignment procedure. Be sure to load paper in
the cassette 1.
3. Extend the output tray extension, then open the paper output support.

The print head alignment sheet will be printed and the print head position will be adjusted automatically.
This takes about 3 to 4 minutes.
Note
• If the automatic adjustment of the print head position has failed, the error message appears on the
LCD.

• If the print results are still not satisfactory after adjusting the print head position as described above,
adjust the print head position manually from the computer.
