Page 12: Set Up Your Phone
Set Up Your Phone You must first charge the battery to begin setting up your phone. 1. Charge your battery. Note: Your phone's battery is integrated into the phone and cannot be removed. Plug the USB connector into the charging/micro-USB jack on the lower left side of your phone. Plug the AC adapter into an electrical outlet. Fully charging a battery may take up to three hours. Note: Your phone’s battery should have enough charge for the phone to turn on and find a signal, run the setup application, set up voicemail, and make a call. You should fully charge the battery as soon as possible. Note: If your phone is brand new or has not been used for some time, you may not see any indication that the phone is being charged at first. This is caused by over-drained battery and your phone will return to normal after enough time of charging. 2. Press and hold the Power Button to turn the phone on. If your phone is activated, it will turn on, search for service, and begin the setup process. If your phone is not yet activated, see Activate Your Phone for more information. Note: Do not press the Volume Button when turning the phone on. Otherwise, you may switch the phone to Download Mode, Recovery Mode, or Factory Testing Mode. To switch back to normal, press and hold the Power Button for about 15 seconds. Get Started... -

Activation and Service Before using your phone, you must set up your service with Boost Mobile. You will need your phone’s serial number (MEID), printed on the box label or on a sticker inside the battery compartment. Create Your Account and Pick Your Plan Set up your Boost Mobile account. 1. From your computer, visit boostmobile.com/activate. 2. Enter your phone’s MEID and click start activation process. Your phone’s MEID (serial number) is printed on the sticker located on the back of your phone in the battery compartment. This number can also be found on the bottom panel of the phone’s package. 3. Follow the remaining instructions to choose your plan and select a payment method. 4. Follow the activation instructions below and you’ll be able to start using your phone. Note: You can also activate by phone by calling 1-888-BOOST-4U (1-888-266-7848) from any other phone. Activate Your Phone After setting up your account on boostmobile.com, simply turn your device on. Your device is designed to activate automatically. If you are swapping from another Boost Mobile device to a new one, be sure to turn off the old device before swapping the serial number (MEID). Once the MEID swap is complete, turn on the new device and the programming information will be pushed to your device automatically. You can also start the activation process manually. Complete the Setup Screens The setup screens help you set up certain features and preferences on your phone. Once your phone has been turned on, you will see a Welcome message. You can then complete the setup process. Note: You may be able to complete the setup screens before your phone has been activated on your account. Note: On the Welcome screen, there may also be an Accessibility button. If you are visually impaired or hard of hearing, touch Accessibility to change the accessibility settings. Note: You do not need to sign up for a Google Account to use your phone. However, to download apps from the Google Play Store app, you must link your phone to a Google Account. Set Up Voicemail You should set up your voicemail and personal greeting as soon as your phone is activated. Always use a password to protect against unauthorized access. Your phone automatically transfers all unanswered calls to your voicemail, even if your phone is in use or turned off. 1. From the home screen, touch > . Key Functions Ambient Light and Proximity Sensor detects how close an object is to the surface of the screen. This is typically used to detect when your face is pressed up against the screen, such as during a phone call. While talking on the phone, the sensor detects talk activity and locks the keypad to prevent accidental keypresses. Front Camera Lens takes pictures and records videos while facing the screen, and allows you to video conference. Earpiece lets you hear the caller and automated prompts. Touchscreen displays all the information needed to operate your phone, such as the call status, the Contacts list, and the date and time. Encryption provides additional protection in case your phone is stolen, and may be required or recommended in some organizations. Consult your system administrator before turning it on. In many cases the PIN or password you set for encryption is controlled by the system administrator. Before turning on encryption, prepare as follows: Set a PIN or password as screen lock. Charge the battery. Keep the phone connected to the charger. Schedule an hour or more for the encryption process. You must not interrupt it or you will lose some or all of your data.
