NuVision TM818 User Manual Introduction Thank you for purchasing the NuVision TM818 8” Windows tablet. It utilizes touch technology to make your personal computing and media content experience, both seamless and immersive. The Tablet is the perfect companion for accomplishing everyday tasks, enhancing productivity on the go, playing video games, streaming Xbox Music and Video, taking photos, and surfing the internet.
Safety Instructions Please read the following instructions and notices before using your tablet. 1. Avoid using in extremely hot, cold, dusty, damp or wet environments. 2. The tablet is not moisture/water-resistant. Avoid using the tablet around sources of water. 3. Avoid dropping or forcibly placing the tablet onto a hard surface. This may damage the screen or internal electronic components.
Function and Feature Overview 1. DC Input: Plug in USB power adapter to recharge the tablet. 2. Headphone: Use headphones for private listening or connect with amplified speakers. 3. Camera: Built in 2.0MP front camera to take HD photos or videos. 4. Loudspeaker: Built in audio speakers to listen to music, podcasts, etc., without headphones. 5.
Getting Started with Your Tablet Power On/Off/Standby Mode/Reset Press and hold the side Power button on the side for a couple of seconds until the logo screen appears, then release. OFF: Press and hold the side Power button. When prompted, slide finger downward to shut off the tablet. STANDBY MODE: Power While the Tablet is on, press the side button quickly to turn off the display only.
To choose or change a password, swipe your finger inward at the right edge of the screen to display the Charm Menu. When a password is required you must choose one to sign in. Open the Settings charm, then tap (or click) PC Settings > Accounts > Sign-In Options NOTE: DO NOT CREATE A PASSWORD WITHOUT CREATING A PASSWORD RESET DISK (see page 25) OR WRITING IT DOWN.
Basic Operation Start Screen, Tiles, and Apps The Start menu screen is where you access everything on your Tablet and search the web. It’s where you check your email, and open applications. Live tiles provide you with the latest news & weather, sporting events, and more. These colorful tiles also alert you with display notices including messages and announcements.
Create a Microsoft account It is recommended to set up or use an existing Microsoft account to activate Office 365 Personal, and for better enjoyment of Microsoft services such as Xbox, Hotmail, Outlook.com, OneDrive, Skype, etc. Many apps and services rely on the account to sync content and settings across devices. Common Finger Gestures Slide to right to Access Open Apps Swipe the left edge: Switch between open apps by swiping inward from the left edge of the screen. Every time you swipe, you switch to another open app. To switch to a specific open app, swipe inward from the left edge and with your finger still on the touchscreen, move it back towards the left edge. Then tap on the desired app. Slide to Left for Search, Share, or Settings Swipe to the right edge: Swipe to search, share, or access PC settings.

Enlarge Pinch to Zoom: In certain apps (such as Maps, Browser, and Gallery), you can zoom in and out by placing two fingers on the screen at once. Pinch together to zoom out and spread them apart to zoom in. Slide Downward Swipe downward from top edge: To access app commands. Slide with Finger Slide finger side to side to move an image. Swipe from the bottom edge: Swipe finger upwards from the bottom edge to find other app commands.
What are Charms? Charms help you get things done on your Tablet including Search, Print, Share, and changing your Tablet settings. From the right edge of the screen, swipe your finger inward to bring up the Charm Menu column. Search files, App programs and everything on the web or type in the search box. Open a particular file, photo, or website you wish to share using the Share charm. Swipe inward from the right edge of the screen and tap (or click) Settings > Share. To post on a social media site, tap (or click) People.
Launching Apps Press the Start button to access and launch Apps on the Tablet. Swipe inward from the left edge of the screen to view open apps; swipe inward from the right edge of the screen to access the Charm menu to Search, Share, view todays Date & Time, Battery level or to access Settings. In order to move an app from the App Menu to the Home Screen, touch and hold the App.

View Apps Side by Side To display two apps together side-by-side swipe an open app inward from the left edge, drag it and hold. Release to one side. A dual screen interface will appear to place the second application. To change one of the apps, go to Start Menu or the Apps view and tap (or click) on an app. It will appear on top of the first two apps.
Connecting To the Internet This Tablet utilizes WiFi 802.11b/g/n networks to connect with the internet so that you may access the world-wide-web, send emails, and download apps. Built-In Apps Skype and Contacts Skype: Add contacts With Skype calls and video chat via computer, you can stay in touch with anyone in the U.S. for free. Once you have added friends, you can make Skype calls and send instant messages. To get started using Skype: Skype 1.
As part of your subscription you may add a PC or Mac to your account and access Office 365 Personal from your computer. Go to office.com/my account. Sign in, download, and install the Office software to the computer. It will automatically be added to your account. Mail Mail Use the app to read and reply to email messages from all of your accounts. You can add Outlook.com, Gmail, Yahoo, AOL and Exchange email accounts to the app. To add an email Mail account: At the Start Menu screen, tap (or click) .
Calendar Calendar Combine most of your calendars into the app so that reminders and notifications about events and scheduled appointments are not missed. You must have a Microsoft account. NOTE: Google calendar cannot sync with the Calendar app Music Music Open the app to play music you’ve downloaded to your Tablet. In addition, you can purchase or stream from an extensive library of music only found at the Xbox Music Store.
Photos Photos Open the app to view all of your video and camera roll files and folders on your tablet. You can edit and adjust color tones and effects. Swipe down from top edge of the screen and tap Edit. Import photos from your camera, phone, flash drive or TF memory card or share photos stored Photos on your Tablet. Open the app and select photos you wish to share. Swipe down (or right- Share click) to select then open the charm.
Overview of Tablet Features Front & Rear Cameras Your Tablet features front and rear facing cameras. Use the front-facing camera for Skype video chat, taking “selfies”, or shooting 720p HD videos. Connecting External USB Devices Your Tablet includes a USB port to connect accessory devices such as a music player, phone, printer, external flash or hard drive, keyboard/mouse, and more. Once plugged in the first time, Windows installs the proper software if needed, automatically. NOTE: Only devices that have been designed for Windows 8.1 work properly out of the box or installs to the Tablet automatically with the necessary software.

You can pin Office programs to the Start Menu in the form of tiles or pin to the Task Bar on the Desktop. Press and hold a program, then drag to pin to the Start Menu or Task Bar. To place Office icons on your Desktop, tap “Open File Location”. Reduce the screen (as shown) so that the Desktop is exposed then drag and drop your selection of files onto the Desktop.
Using Windows 8.1 Using Tiles Tiles are used to open apps, receive alerts and notifications, receive the latest weather and sports news, and to access your favorite websites, important files or contacts (from your People app). For convenience, pin apps to the Start Menu by dragging them from your App Menu. Swipe up from the center of the Start screen to view all of your apps in the App Menu. Installing Programs You can download and install applications from the Windows Store, or from other trusted publisher, a CD/DVD from an external device, and from your home or business network. Most programs written for Windows 7 will also work with Windows 8 however some older programs may run poorly or not at all.

Basic Recovery Creating a Backup Using File History, you can back up files on to an external or network drive, including all of your Music, Videos, Photos, Documents, Spreadsheets and Desktop folders.
