BRAKE DISC INSPECTION

Visually inspect the brake disc [1] for damage or crack.
Measure the brake disc thickness at several points.
SERVICE LIMIT: 3.5 mm (0.14 in)
Replace the brake disc if the smallest measurement is
less than service limit.
Check the brake disc for warpage.
SERVICE LIMIT: 0.25 mm (0.010 in)
Check the wheel bearings for excessive play, if the
warpage exceeds the service limit.
Replace the brake disc if the wheel bearings are
normal.

MASTER CYLINDER

REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
Drain the brake fluid from the hydraulic system (page
16-4).
Remove the rearview mirror.
Disconnect the brake hose [1] by removing the oil bolt
[2] and sealing washers [3].
Disconnect the front brake light switch connectors [4].
Remove the master cylinder holder bolts [5], holder [6]
and master cylinder [7].
Install the master cylinder, holder and holder bolts.
Install the master
cylinder holder with
Align the end of the master cylinder with the punch
its "UP" mark [8]
mark [9] on the handlebar, and tighten the upper bolt
facing up.
first, then tighten the lower bolt.
TORQUE: 12 N·m (1.2 kgf·m, 9 lbf·ft)
Connect the brake light switch connectors.
Connect the brake hose with the oil bolt and new
sealing washers, and tighten the oil bolt.
TORQUE: 34 N·m (3.5 kgf·m, 25 lbf·ft)
Install the rearview mirror.
Fill and bleed the hydraulic system (page 16-4).
