! To start playback from the desired point
(direct play)
To select and play the desired title and chapter:

Whilst in the stop or playback mode, press the DIRECT button.
Example: During DVD playback

Within 30 seconds, select " " by pressing the
enter the title number using the direct number buttons (0 - 9).
By entering the title number, you can enter the chapter number input mode.

Within 30 seconds, enter the chapter number using the direct num-
ber buttons (0 - 9).
Example:
To select chapter 1: Press "10/0" and "1".
To select chapter 12: Press "1" and "2".
To select and play the desired chapter (track):
Whilst in the playback mode, press the direct number buttons (0 - 9)
to select the chapter (track) number.
If the chapter (track) number is 2 digits or more, press ">10" and enter the number.
Example:
To select chapter 14: Press ">10", "1" and "4".
To play by specifying time (time search):
You can play back from the desired point by specifying the time.

During playback, press the DIRECT button
twice.

Within 30 seconds, specify the time with the di-
rect number buttons.
" To specify 1 hour 23 minutes and 40 seconds, enter "12340".
" If you enter the wrong number, press the CLEAR button and then reenter.
Notes:
" Direct play feature is disabled on some discs.
" Some discs may not display the chapter number.
" With DVDs, you can specify the desired point only in the current title and not in
another title.
" With audio CDs, you can specify the desired point only in the current track and not
in the disc.
" Some discs cannot play from the specified point.
" Time search feature is disabled on some discs.
" You cannot specify the time whilst the disc is stopped.

! Still picture/Frame advance

You can freeze the image and advance frame by frame.

Press the (DVD/CD) button to return to the normal playback.
Note:
Still picture and frame advance features are disabled on some discs.

! Slow-motion play

You can slow down the playback speed.

Whilst a disc is playing, press the STILL/PAUSE

Press the button whilst the image is paused.
Three speeds are available. Each time the button is pressed, the speed of slow-
motion playback changes in the following sequence:
1/16 (about 1/16 times)
The same operation can be performed by pressing down the
DVD player front panel, instead of the remote control, for more than 2 seconds.
