Changing coolant

(Inspection IV) every 2 years

Draining coolant

– Remove front fairing panel
– Unfasten radiator cap
•
Slip hose (arrow) over screw head
•
Remove drain plug
•
Drain coolant

Note:
Renew sealing ring on drain plug
•
Tighten the drain plug.
X
Tightening torque:
Drain plug..................................................... 10 Nm

Draining expansion tank

Note:
If the drive swinging arm is tied up out of the way,
the expansion tank can be slipped below the lock
support. Alternatively, draw off coolant with a
syringe or similar.

Adding coolant

•
Pour coolant into filler neck

Open vent screw (1) in cylinder head (to allow air
to escape) until coolant escapes
•
Top up coolant level in expansion tank
•
Run the engine briefly, then stop it, recheck cool-
ant level and top up if necessary
Quantities:
Cooling system ......................1.2 l (2.11 Imp. pints)
Expansion tank ......................0.2 l (0.35 Imp. pints)

Caution:
Use only nitrite-free long-life antifreeze and corro-
sion inhibitor
Mixing ratio:
Water ..............................................................50%
Antifreeze .........................................................50%
Protection against freezing down to ............ —25 °C
