The term USB stands for Universal Service Bus. The USB port connects
computers to external devices. An example of a USB device is a USB Storage
Device often referred to as a Flash Drive or Thumb Drive.

Use of USB Storage Device

Files can be copied to and from this device. When you plug a device into an
available USB port, the Windows XP operating system will automatically detect
its presence and assign it the first available drive letter, i.e., F:/, or G:/.

Removing a USB Storage Device

When you are finished using the USB storage device, DO NOT pull it out of the
USB drive.
1. Click on the USB icon found in the system tray on the bottom right of your
screen.
2. A pop-up window will state Safely remove USB Mass Storage Device-
Drives (I:,E:) Select the message.
3. You should receive a notification that it is safe to remove the hardware. If
you receive a message that it is not safe to remove the hardware, close all
applications and try again.
