Scalability
Controllers and drives can be added according to the operations of the ETERNUS DX.
Unit
The base unit (controller enclosure) size is 2U (*1). Two types are available; the 2.5" type (24 drives for each
enclosure) and the 3.5" type (12 drives for each enclosure).
One expansion unit (drive enclosure, 12 drives, 2U) can be installed in a 3.5" type base unit.
*1: 1U is the height for a device that can be installed in one 19-inch rack unit (1U = 44.45mm).
Drives
The ETERNUS DX supports SAS disks and cost effective Nearline SAS disks with large amounts of capacity.
Up to 24 drives can be installed.
Controller
One or two controllers can be installed. When an ETERNUS DX has one controller, another controller can be
added.
Host interface
Host interfaces can be selected from FC 8Gbit/s, iSCSI 1Gbit/s, and SAS 6Gbit/s. Up to four ports can be instal-
led in a single ETERNUS DX.
