PPP Overview
PPP is a suite of protocols, rather than just a single protocol. (See Figure 6-2.)
The PPP suite includes several types of protocols:
link control protocol (LCP)
authentication protocols
network control protocols (NCPs)

Each type of protocol has a specific role in establishing and maintaining a PPP
connection
