The LCD Screen and Adjusting the Trim
The LCD screen on the base of the controller will display several useful indicators at all times.
Of particular note are the Signal Strength, Battery Indicator and the Trim Indicators.
Signal Strength: How well the controller and the Quad Starship can communicate. Exercise
caution: if this meter gets low, it's highly likely that you may lose control of the Quad Starship!
Battery Indicator: This will indicate the current charge level of the batteries in the controller.
Realtime monitoring of the Quad Starship's charge state is not possible, due to the high fluctuations
in current drawn from the battery, which invalidates any remaining capacity measurements.
Throttle and Direction monitors: On the LCD screen, the level of throttle applied as well as
direction and rotation controls are displayed. The levels on the indicators are not influenced
by the trim controls, and will show the raw data coming into the controller from the left and
right analog sticks.
Trim monitors: The state of each trim
control can be found on the LCD screen
on the bottom of the controller. The
centre is the neutral point, and any
adjustment either side is indicated.
Rotation Trim (Rudder): If you find that
the Quad Starship is turning slowly left
or right when you're not using the right
stick on the controller, then you'll need
to adjust the trim. The rotation trim
controls are located beneath the right
stick.
If the Quad Starship is rotating clockwise (it's turning right from the imaginary miniature pilot's
perspective) then move the trim adjustment switch left, compensating counter-clockwise.
Conversely, if it's rotating counter-clockwise, compensate by moving the trim adjustment
right.
Sideways Trim (Strafing): If the Quad Starship is moving sideways (either left or right without
pivoting) the use the Sideways Trim control, located beneath the left stick.
Movement Trim (Forward/Backwards): f the Quad Starship is moving forwards or backwards,
use the Movement Trim to compensate. It's located on the left side of the right stick. If the
Quad Starship is moving forwards, compensate by moving the trim backwards (i.e. down) and
vice-versa.
Throttle Trim (Up/Down): The throttle doesn't trim quite the same way as the other axis as
there's no center point to reference from. However, the feel of the throttle and the way power
is applied is subtly adjusted.
To reset the trim to default, press and
hold the appropriate trim adjustment
button until the relevant trim indicator
shows
a
balanced
controller will emit one long beep when
this balance point is reached.
