Power on Your IP40
Connect the power adapter to the power port on the rear panel of the IP40, and then plug in the power
adapter to a power source.
The PWR LED on the front panel will light up, indicating that the IP40 is now powered on.

Connecting to Your Network

Connect one end of a straight-through cable (not included with the IP40) to the WAN port on the rear panel
of the IP40, and the other end to your cable or DSL modem.
Ensure that your DSL or cable modem is powered on.
The WAN LED on the front panel of your device will light up, indicating proper connection to your modem.
Connect one end of the crossover cable provided with your IP40 to the IP40 LAN port, and the other end of
the cable to your computer. Refer to the Nokia IP40 User Guide on the CDROM for information on using the
DMZ, Console and AUX ports
If you are connecting to a hub or a switch, use a straight-through cable.
The LAN LED will light up, indicating that the computer has connected. Refer to the User Guide on the
CDROM for more information.
The examples below illustrate the proper cabling with and without the hub or switch.
