When you attach the VFL-1 Video Flash Light to the camcorder and set it to fire a flash
([IJ 73), the AF-assist lamp (White LED) illuminates the subject in the center ofthe
screen to enable the camcorder to focus in dark places.

When you press the PHOTO button halfway, the AF-assist lamp turns on
automatically responding to the surrounding brightness.

When you press the PHOTO button halfway and turn the focus ring, the
AF-assist lamp turns on responding to the surrounding brightness.

The camcorder may not be able to focus even though the AF-assist lamp is
lighting. In such case, adjust the focus manually.

The AF-assist lamp lights up brightly. Consider turning off the AF-assist lamp in
public places such as in restaurants or theaters.

Turn off the AF-assist lamp in places where flash photography is prohibited.

To turn off the AF-assist lamp, open the menu and select [CAMERA SET
UP]. Select [AF AST LAMP], set it to [OFF] and close the menu.
