HARD DISK UPGRADES
This chapter describes how to add another hard disk
drive to your computer.
The forward drive bay can accommodate two
hard disk drives. Either drive may be of 3.5-inch
or 5.25-inch form factor. Typically, these are E-
IDE drives, but SCSI drives are also acceptable if
you have a SCSI host bus adapter expansion
The rear drive bay is designed to accommodate
one or two more 3.5-inch SCSI drives.
Although it is theoretically possible to mix E-IDE and
SCSI drives within the same system, in practice this is
therefore two E-IDE drives or four SCSI drives.
First or "master" hard disk drive (HDD)
Slot for a second HDD
Slot for a removable-media drive
Rear drive bay for two SCSI hard disk drives
Never carry out any work inside the computer with AC
power applied. Always shut down the computer and
unplug all power cords before removing the cover.
