Possible cause

V-belt slack or torn (STH 5.56, STH 8.66,

Drive system iced up (STH 5.56, STH 8.66,
STH 10.66 C).
Friction-wheel rubber torn.
Loose parts or damaged worm.
Coupling cable for drive system not correctly
adjusted.
Shift lever not correctly adjusted

Action to take
Adjust coupling cable (see "Adjust coupling
for the drive system").
Have slack V-belt tightened
Have torn V-belt replaced
Remove ice accumulation (see "Checking the
drive system").
Have friction-wheel rubber replaced
Stop engine immediately and pull off spark-
plug connector. Tighten loose bolts and
nuts.Have damaged worm repaired
Adjust coupling cable (see "Adjust coupling
cable for the drive system").
Adjust shift lever (see "Adjusting the shift
lever").
Remove ice accumulation (see "Checking the
drive system").
