Side Stand

(Refer to the Safety Precautions on page 43.)
Perform the following maintenance in accordance with
the maintenance schedule.
Functional Check:
• Check the side stand spring (1) for damage or loss
of tension and the side stand assembly for freedom
of movement.
• Check the side stand ignition cut-off system:
1. Sit astride the motorcycle; put the side stand up
and the transmission in neutral.
2. Start the engine and with the clutch lever pulled in,
shift the transmission into gear.
3. Lower the side stand. The engine should stop as
you put the side stand down.
If the side stand system does not operate as
described, see your Honda dealer for service.

Wheel Removal

(Refer to the Safety Precautions on page 43.)
This motorcycle is equipped with a side stand only.
Therefore, if front or rear wheel removal is required, it
will be necessary to raise the center of the motorcycle
with a jack or other firm support. If none is available,
see your Honda dealer for this service.
Front Wheel Removal
1. Raise the front wheel off the ground by placing a
support block under the engine.
2. Disconnect the speedometer cable (1) by removing
the speedometer cable set screw (2).

3. Loosen the axle pinch bolt (3).
4. Remove the front axle nut (4).
5. Remove the front axle shaft (5), front wheel and
side collar.
